Celebrating International Women's Day!
Every year on March 8th women around the world celebrate International Women's Day in many ways. However for women, who are homeless, struggling with abuse, mental health and/or addiction issues, are often overlooked on this day.
For the past eleven years, we have been in involved in an event that celebrates the women and gives them an opportunity to be acknowledged for their strengths, talents and wisdom. Over 250 women come together for an afternoon of entertainment, an elegant luncheon, art activities, and draw prizes and at the end each receives a gift bags filled with self-care items and other treats.
LAMN works closely with CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health), A.I.S. (Accommodation, Information and Support) and other community agencies to bring this event together every year. Throughout the year volunteers are busy "hunting and gathering" for donations of food, gift bag items prizes and financial support.
Historically, the women have enjoyed a buffet lunch made possible every year by the generous support of Lisa Shamai Cusinere. This year we are planning a sit-down luncheon for the women which will require many more volunteers to act as servers. The result of all this hard work is an afternoon of joy, laughter and friendship for all.

each of the 350 women attending this year’s International Women’s Day event. The cheerfully coloured bags will be filled with donations of personal care products provided by individuals and companies throughout the GTA. Not only will the women leave with smiles on their faces from the experience of this exciting day, they will also have
an environmental friendly bag filled with goodies as a keepsake from the Celebration.
